We made a trip down to Lincoln, Massachusetts to meet friends for lunch and to see James's show on it's final day at Clark Gallery. The paintings, both large and small, some like old friends filled the walls of the gallery. It is always interesting to see a body of work collected and put together in a neutral space, like a gallery, when we are so used to seeing paintings in the studio. A show offers the artist an opportunity to see the paintings collectively.
As I mentioned, we were meeting friends for lunch and a show (art show)!
Paul and Betty are friends on both sides of the ocean, here in the USA. and also in Panicale ( Italy).
It is always so much fun to spend time with them, no matter where. As we ate lunch we made a mental list of places we need to visit when in Italy. Lets' see, the list included Ravenna, a restaurant in Chiusi, and a visit to Sarah Fiorini's agriturismo in San Gimignano.
The painting of Calla Lillies is set in front of an Umbrian landscape centered on Lake Trasimeno, a place close to all of our hearts!
A selection of paintings from the show to share with our friends that could not join us, as well as a way for us to remember this 2015 exhibit.
The landscape in this painting is Lake Trasimeno at night as seen from the garden at Betty and Paul's ( and Stew too!) It is such a sweet garden, where we have all enjoyed great lunches and bottles of wine together!
Well, anyways, hoped you enjoyed a quick look at some of the paintings that were in the show....
Bravo ! James
Cheers! Paul and Betty
cin-cin ! to family & friends!
ci vediamo presto! to all of our friends in Panicale.
